  • 1 Medium frying pan
  • 1 Knife and cutting board

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Steaks Ribeye, Sirloin
  • 1 Cup Kimchi Chopped
  • 2 Cups Cooked rice
  • 2 Tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Sesame oil
  • 2 Tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Green onions Optional for garnish
  • 2 Cloves garlic
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Steak
    Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper.
    Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
    Once the pan is hot, sear the steak for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer for your preferred doneness.
    Set the steak aside to rest for a few minutes

  • Make the Kimchi-Fried Rice:
    In the same skillet (or a new pan), add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.
    Add minced garlic and chopped kimchi, stir-frying for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
    Add the cooked rice and soy sauce, stirring to coat the rice evenly.
    Drizzle with sesame oil and stir for another 2 minutes until the rice is heated through. Turn off the heat and set the rice aside.

  • Cook the Eggs:
    Heat a small frying pan with a little vegetable oil over medium heat.
    Crack the eggs into the pan and fry for about 3 minutes, until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny.

  • Assemble the Dish:
    Slice the rested steak into thin strips.
    Divide the kimchi-fried rice between two plates, then top each plate with steak slices and a fried egg.
    Garnish with chopped green onions if desired.

  • Use Day-Old Rice: Day-old rice is drier, making it ideal for fried rice as it prevents mushiness.
  • Don’t Overcook the Steak: For the juiciest results, aim for medium-rare doneness.

  • Extra Flavor: For a spicy kick, drizzle sriracha or gochujang over the fried egg.
